What causes stretch marks?

While stretch marks are often associated with pregnancy, they can occur in anyone. Weight fluctuations, as well as genetics, may make certain individuals more predisposed to developing stretch marks.  There are many creams and remedies on the market that may improve the condition of the skin and make the marks appear slightly less red, but the only way to effectively see a dramatic improvement is with laser stretch mark removal.

What types of Stretch Mark Removal treatments are available?

Every individual is unique, and our treatments are all highly personalized. The type of laser stretch mark removal treatment you will receive will depend on the severity and coloration of your stretch marks, as well as your natural skin tone. Some stretch marks appear bright red or purple while others fade to a silvery color and leave skin rippled to the touch. In those individuals who prefer not to have laser treatment, similar results may be achieved with microneedling treatments.

What can Stretch Mark Removal treatments accomplish?

Laser stretch mark removal is highly effective for treating brightly colored marks because it significantly reduces the intensity of their color and reduces any inflammation in the area.  Laser treatments stimulate the skin’s natural production of collagen and elastin to improve the overall tone and texture of the skin.  To treat marks that are lighter in color and improve the texture of the skin, the fractional laser treatment may be a better option. While laser stretch mark removal may not completely erase every trace of every mark, it will significantly fade the appearance of stretch marks enough to produce significant improvements.  Microneedling similarly improves the appearance of stretch marks, though not as effectively as laser treatments.

Is Stretch Mark Removal painful?

While most patients do not find the procedure painful, following a laser stretch mark removal treatment, you may experience minor redness and swelling, similar to a mild sunburn. This is completely normal and may last for a few days. Most patients are able to resume regular activity immediately after treatment.

How many treatments does Stretch Mark removal require?

Laser stretch mark reduction is a gentle, gradual process that requires a series of treatments. The number of treatment sessions varies between patients and depends on the severity of your condition, as well as your aesthetic goals.  After a series of sessions, you can expect to see a significant reduction in the appearance of stretch marks, as well as an overall improvement in the condition of the skin in the treatment area.
